Ingredients
- Beef brisket: 1.5 to 2 kg (3 to 4 lbs)
- Onion: 1 large onion, sliced
- Garlic: 4 cloves, minced
- Beef broth: 500 ml (2 cups)
- Worcestershire sauce: 60 ml (1/4 cup)
- Brown sugar: 50 g (1/4 cup)
- Smoked paprika: 2 teaspoons
- Salt: 1 teaspoon
- Pepper: 1 teaspoon
- Optional Ingredients: Carrots, Celery, Bay leaves, Red wine, Fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)
Instructions
- Prepare the brisket by trimming excess fat and patting it dry.
- Season the brisket generously with salt and pepper.
- Optional: Sear the brisket in a skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Layer sautéed onions and garlic in the slow cooker, then place the brisket on top.
- Pour the broth mixture over the brisket.
- Cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours.
- Let the brisket rest for 15 minutes after cooking.
- Slice against the grain and serve with juices from the slow cooker.
