Ingredients
- Breakfast sausage: 1 pound (450 grams)
- All-purpose flour: 1/4 cup (30 grams)
- Milk: 2 cups (480 milliliters)
- Black pepper: 1 teaspoon (or to taste)
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)
- Cayenne pepper: A pinch (optional)
- Red pepper flakes: To taste (optional)
- Onion powder: 1 teaspoon (optional)
- Garlic powder: 1 teaspoon (optional)

Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and crumble the breakfast sausage into the pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and fully cooked.
- Sprinkle 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour over the cooked sausage and stir well. Cook for 1-2 minutes while stirring constantly.
- Gradually pour in 2 cups of milk while continuously stirring until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken (about 5-7 minutes).
- Add 1 teaspoon of black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Remove from heat and serve over freshly baked biscuits or toast.
