Ingredients

- 2 cups sauerkraut
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 medium potatoes, sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a baking dish.
- Add the cooked beef and onion mixture on top of the potatoes.
- Spread the sauerkraut over the beef layer.
- Sprinkle caraway seeds, salt, and pepper over the sauerkraut.
- Add the remaining sliced potatoes on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove foil, add shredded cheese, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted.
Notes
- Serve hot for best flavor.
- Can be made ahead and reheated.
