Description

A hearty and flavorful sauerkraut casserole that combines tangy sauerkraut, savory meat, and comforting potatoes.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sauerkraut
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a baking dish.
  4. Add the cooked beef and onion mixture on top of the potatoes.
  5. Spread the sauerkraut over the beef layer.
  6. Sprinkle caraway seeds, salt, and pepper over the sauerkraut.
  7. Add the remaining sliced potatoes on top.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  9. Remove foil, add shredded cheese, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted.
