Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup salted caramel sauce
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla extract.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  7. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  8. Fold in butterscotch chips and half of the salted caramel sauce.
  9. Divide the batter between the prepared pans.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  11. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  12. Once cooled, layer the cakes and drizzle with remaining salted caramel sauce.
