- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup salted caramel sauce
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in buttermilk and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in butterscotch chips and half of the salted caramel sauce.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, layer the cakes and drizzle with remaining salted caramel sauce.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- This cake can be frozen for up to 3 months.
- Top with whipped cream for extra indulgence.
