Traditional Russian New Year dinner ideas for a festive celebration.
Ingredients
- Beef Stroganoff – 1 kg of beef, 200 g of mushrooms, 1 onion, 200 ml of sour cream, 2 tbsp of flour
- Olivier Salad – 500 g of potatoes, 200 g of carrots, 200 g of peas, 200 g of pickles, 300 g of boiled chicken, 200 g of mayonnaise
- Herring Under a Fur Coat – 300 g of herring, 3 boiled potatoes, 2 boiled carrots, 1 beetroot, 200 g of mayonnaise
- Vareniki – 500 g of flour, 200 ml of water, 300 g of cottage cheese, 1 egg
- Pavlova – 4 egg whites, 250 g of sugar, 300 ml of cream, 200 g of berries
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef Stroganoff by sautéing onion and mushrooms, adding beef, and simmering with sour cream.
- Make Olivier Salad by boiling potatoes, carrots, and chicken, then mixing all ingredients with mayonnaise.
- Layer Herring Under a Fur Coat with herring, potatoes, carrots, and beetroot, topped with mayonnaise.
- Mix flour, water, and egg for Vareniki dough, fill with cottage cheese, and boil.
- Whip egg whites and sugar for Pavlova, bake until crispy, then top with cream and berries.
