Ingredients
- Turkey – 1 whole (12-14 lbs)
- Butter – 1 cup
- Salt – 2 tablespoons
- Pepper – 1 tablespoon
- Garlic – 4 cloves, minced
- Onion – 1 large, chopped
- Carrots – 2, chopped
- Celery – 2 stalks, chopped
- Chicken broth – 4 cups
- Herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage) – 2 tablespoons each, fresh
- Stuffing – 1 box or homemade
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry.
- Rub the turkey with butter, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the turkey with stuffing and place in a roasting pan.
- In a separate bowl, mix garlic, onion, carrots, and celery.
- Pour chicken broth over the vegetables and place around the turkey.
- Cover with foil and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Remove foil and roast for an additional 30-60 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Check the turkey temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let leftovers cool before storing.
- Use drippings for gravy.
