Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons adobo seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons sofrito
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 onions, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Rinse the turkey and pat dry.
  3. In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic, adobo, sofrito, orange juice, salt, and pepper.
  4. Rub the mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin.
  5. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and add the vegetables around it.
  6. Pour chicken broth into the pan.
  7. Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2 hours.
  8. Remove foil and roast for an additional 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  9. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.

  • For extra flavor, marinate the turkey overnight.
