Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin: 1 lb (450 g), thinly sliced against the grain.
  • Bell peppers: 2 (1 red and 1 green), sliced into strips.
  • Onions: 1 large, sliced.
  • Soy sauce: 1/4 cup (60 ml).
  • Garlic: 3 cloves, minced.
  • Ginger: 1 tablespoon, minced.
  • Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon.
  • Vegetable oil: 2 tablespoons (for cooking).
  • Black pepper: to taste.

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients by washing and slicing the bell peppers and onions, and thinly slicing the beef sirloin against the grain.
  2. Marinate the beef sirloin with soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, and black pepper for 15-30 minutes.
  3. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil and stir-fry the sliced onions for 4-5 minutes until tender and slightly caramelized.
  4. Increase heat and sear the marinated beef in the skillet for 2-3 minutes without stirring, then stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Add sliced bell peppers to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp, then return the cooked beef to the skillet and mix well.
  6. Give a final stir and cook for another minute, then serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
