Ingredients

  • 1 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, beat peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  5. Add eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla to the peanut butter mixture. Mix well.
  6. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pans.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  10. Frost with peanut butter frosting once cooled.
