Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 slices of rye bread
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp pickle relish
Instructions
- In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized.
- In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish to create the secret sauce.
- Form ground beef into two patties and season with salt and pepper.
- In the same skillet, cook the patties to your desired doneness.
- Top each patty with a slice of Swiss cheese and cover until melted.
- Toast the rye bread in a separate pan with remaining butter.
- Assemble the melts: spread the secret sauce on one side of the toasted bread, add the patty with melted cheese, caramelized onions, and top with another slice of bread.
- Cook the sandwich on both sides until golden brown.
