Description

A delicious patty melt topped with a secret sauce.


Ingredients

  • Ground beef – 1 pound
  • Onion – 1 large, sliced
  • Cheese – 4 slices, preferably Swiss
  • Rye bread – 8 slices
  • Butter – 4 tablespoons
  • Secret sauce – 1/2 cup (mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, and spices)

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and sauté onions until caramelized.
  3. Form ground beef into patties and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook patties in the skillet until desired doneness.
  5. Place cheese on top of patties to melt.
  6. Spread secret sauce on one side of each slice of rye bread.
  7. Assemble sandwiches with patty, onions, and another slice of bread.
  8. Butter the outside of the sandwiches and grill until golden brown.
  9. Slice and serve hot.
