Ingredients
- Spaghetti: 400 grams (14 oz)
- Ground beef: 500 grams (1 lb)
- Breadcrumbs: 100 grams (1 cup)
- Egg: 1 large
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped
- Marinara sauce: 500 grams (about 2 cups)
- Parmesan cheese: 50 grams (1/2 cup), grated
- Fresh basil: A handful, for garnish
- Olive oil: 2 tablespoons (for cooking)
- Salt: To taste
- Pepper: To taste
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, chopped onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and form into meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in batches and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, pour in marinara sauce and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the browned meatballs back into the skillet, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Combine the cooked meatballs and sauce with the spaghetti, or serve the meatballs over the spaghetti. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with lentils or plant-based meat.
- Experiment with different pasta shapes like fettuccine or penne.
