Description

A delightful breakfast dish featuring layers of French toast baked with a creamy custard and topped with a caramelized sugar crust.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of brioche bread, sliced
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Grease a baking dish.
  2. Layer the brioche slices in the dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  4. Pour the mixture over the bread slices.
  5. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  6. The next morning, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Bake for 45 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Sprinkle sugar on top and caramelize with a kitchen torch or under the broiler.
