Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 cups whole milk
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, softened butter, sugar, and salt.
- Add water gradually and form a dough.
- Roll out the dough and place it in a tart pan.
- Bake the crust for 20 minutes or until golden.
- In a saucepan, combine brown sugar and cornstarch.
- Whisk in milk and cook over medium heat until thickened.
- In a bowl, beat egg yolks and temper with hot mixture.
- Return to heat and cook for 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and butter.
- Pour filling into the baked crust and chill until set.
Notes
- Serve chilled for best flavor.
- Can be topped with whipped cream.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
