Description

Nanaimo bars are a no-bake dessert bar with a creamy filling and a chocolate topping.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup custard powder
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the softened butter, granulated sugar, and cocoa powder.
  2. Add graham cracker crumbs and shredded coconut; stir until combined.
  3. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×9 inch pan.
  4. In another bowl, mix custard powder, powdered sugar, and 1/2 cup softened butter until smooth.
  5. Spread the custard mixture over the graham cracker layer.
  6. Melt the dark chocolate and remaining butter together; pour over the custard layer.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Store bars in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • They can be frozen for up to 3 months.
  • Use vegan butter for a dairy-free version.
