A hearty and comforting shepherd’s pie made with ground meat and topped with creamy mashed potatoes.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  3. Add ground meat, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in carrots, peas, tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Simmer for 10 minutes, then transfer to a baking dish.
  6. Spread mashed potatoes over the meat mixture, smoothing the top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.

Notes

  • You can use leftover mashed potatoes.
  • Substitute vegetables based on your preference.
