A warm, spiced red wine drink perfect for the winter season.
Ingredients

- 1 bottle red wine
- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 star anise
- 1/4 cup brandy (optional)
Instructions
- Pour the red wine into a large pot.
- Add the sliced orange and lemon.
- Stir in the sugar.
- Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.
- Heat gently over low heat until warm, about 20 minutes.
- Do not boil the wine.
- If using, stir in the brandy just before serving.
- Strain and serve warm in mugs.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness to your taste.
- Substitute honey for sugar if desired.
- Let the mixture steep for longer for stronger flavors.
