- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 large onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- In a bowl, mix butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
- Rub the butter mixture under the skin and on the outside of the turkey.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan. Stuff the cavity with onion, carrots, and celery.
- Pour chicken broth into the pan.
- Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
- Roast for 2.5 to 3 hours, removing the foil for the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Save the drippings for gravy.
- Adjust seasoning as per taste.
