  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 large onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
  3. Rub the butter mixture under the skin and on the outside of the turkey.
  4. Place the turkey in a roasting pan. Stuff the cavity with onion, carrots, and celery.
  5. Pour chicken broth into the pan.
  6. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  7. Roast for 2.5 to 3 hours, removing the foil for the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
  8. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
  9. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
