Description
A traditional King Cake recipe for celebrations.
Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup colored sugar (purple, green, gold)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add yeast mixture, butter, eggs, and vanilla to dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll dough into a rectangle and shape it into a circle.
- Place the cake on a baking sheet and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool and decorate with colored sugar.
Notes
- Hide a small plastic baby inside for tradition.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Enjoy with coffee or tea.
