Description

Kentucky butter cake is a rich, moist dessert that features a buttery flavor with a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup water (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the buttermilk and vanilla extract.
  6. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by combining sugar, water, and vanilla in a saucepan. Heat until sugar dissolves.
  11. Once the cake is done, let it cool for 10 minutes, then remove it from the pan.
  12. Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake.
