- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 lb fresh fish (tuna, salmon)
- 1 avocado
- Nori sheets
- Wasabi and soy sauce for serving
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Combine rice and water in a pot and let it soak for 30 minutes.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for 20 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved.
- Once rice is cooked, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes.
- Transfer rice to a large bowl and gently mix in the vinegar mixture.
- Let the rice cool to room temperature.
- Slice the fish and avocado into thin strips.
- Place a nori sheet on a bamboo mat, spread a thin layer of rice, and add fish and avocado.
- Roll tightly and slice into pieces.
- Serve with wasabi and soy sauce.
