Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 lb fresh fish (tuna, salmon)
  • 1 avocado
  • Nori sheets
  • Wasabi and soy sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine rice and water in a pot and let it soak for 30 minutes.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for 20 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved.
  5. Once rice is cooked, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes.
  6. Transfer rice to a large bowl and gently mix in the vinegar mixture.
  7. Let the rice cool to room temperature.
  8. Slice the fish and avocado into thin strips.
  9. Place a nori sheet on a bamboo mat, spread a thin layer of rice, and add fish and avocado.
  10. Roll tightly and slice into pieces.
  11. Serve with wasabi and soy sauce.
