A rich and savory dip made from caramelized onions and Gruyere cheese.
Ingredients

- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese, grated
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add onions, salt, and sugar. Cook until caramelized, about 25 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise.
- Stir in caramelized onions, Gruyere cheese, thyme, and pepper.
- Transfer to a baking dish and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
- Serve warm with chips or bread.
Notes
- Adjust cooking time for desired onion caramelization.
- Can be made ahead and reheated.
- Try adding garlic for extra flavor.
