  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • 4 cups turkey broth
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the giblets and neck from the turkey cavity.
  3. Rinse the turkey under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
  4. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
  5. Season the turkey with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage.
  6. Stuff the cavity with onion, carrots, and celery.
  7. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour the broth around it.
  8. Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2-2.5 hours.
  9. Remove the foil and roast for an additional 30-60 minutes until the skin is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  10. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
