- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
- 4 cups turkey broth
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the giblets and neck from the turkey cavity.
- Rinse the turkey under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage.
- Stuff the cavity with onion, carrots, and celery.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour the broth around it.
- Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2-2.5 hours.
- Remove the foil and roast for an additional 30-60 minutes until the skin is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
- Brining the turkey can enhance flavor and moisture.
