Description
A flavorful dish that combines sweet honey and savory garlic, creating a sticky glaze that coats tender chicken thighs.
Ingredients
- Chicken thighs: 1 kg (about 2.2 lbs), bone-in and skin-on
- Honey: 1/2 cup (120 ml)
- Garlic: 4 cloves, minced
- Soy sauce: 1/4 cup (60 ml)
- Fresh ginger: 1 tablespoon, grated
- Sesame oil: 1 tablespoon
- Green onions: 2, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds: 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
- Salt and pepper: to taste
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken thighs by combining honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, grated ginger, sesame oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Whisk until blended.
- Place chicken thighs in a resealable bag or dish, pour marinade over, seal, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (overnight for best flavor).
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Remove chicken from marinade, place on a baking sheet, and bake for 25-30 minutes until internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).
- Baste chicken with leftover marinade halfway through cooking.
- Broil chicken for the last 3-5 minutes for a caramelized finish.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, reserve some marinade and simmer it until thickened.
- Chicken breasts can be used, but may dry out more easily.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more honey or spice with red pepper flakes.
- Consider adding vegetables for a nutritious twist.
