Description
A simple and creamy homemade vanilla custard.
Ingredients

- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks. Gradually add a small amount of the hot mixture to the yolks to temper them.
- Return the egg mixture to the saucepan and cook for an additional minute.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour custard into serving dishes and chill before serving.
Notes
- Store custard in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Can be served warm or cold.
- Great as a base for desserts.
