Description
A classic homemade Dutch apple pie with a crumbly topping.
Ingredients

- 6 cups sliced apples
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 pie crust
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour.
- Pour apple mixture into the pie crust.
- In another bowl, mix brown sugar, oats, butter, and flour for the topping.
- Spread the topping over the apples.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F, then reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Cool before serving.
Notes
- Use tart apples for better flavor.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
