- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add sugar, corn syrup, and salt; stir until combined.
- Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
- Reduce heat and add condensed milk, stirring continuously.
- Cook until mixture reaches 245°F (118°C).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Store caramels in an airtight container.
- Wrap individual caramels in wax paper for easy handling.
- Adjust cooking time for softer or firmer caramels.
