Homemade banana pudding made with fresh bananas and creamy vanilla pudding.
Ingredients

- 4 ripe bananas
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups milk
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 box vanilla wafers
- whipped cream for topping
Instructions
- In a saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually add milk while stirring.
- Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and temper with hot mixture.
- Return to saucepan and cook for 2 more minutes.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Layer bananas, pudding, and wafers in a dish.
- Chill for at least 4 hours.
- Top with whipped cream before serving.
Notes
- Use ripe bananas for best flavor.
- Chill the pudding for better texture.
- Can substitute gluten-free wafers if needed.
