  2. Gradually add milk while stirring.
  3. Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
  4. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and temper with hot mixture.
  5. Return to saucepan and cook for 2 more minutes.
  6. Stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Layer bananas, pudding, and wafers in a dish.
  8. Chill for at least 4 hours.
  9. Top with whipped cream before serving.
