- 5 to 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 package pie crusts (2 crusts)
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, mix sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Roll out one pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish.
- Fill the crust with the apple mixture and dot with butter.
- Cover with the second pie crust, seal edges, and cut slits in the top crust.
- Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
- Reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 30 to 35 minutes until apples are soft and crust is golden.
Notes
- Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor.
- Let the pie cool before serving to allow filling to set.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream for a classic pairing.
