Ingredients

  • Butter – 1 cup, softened
  • Salt – 2 tablespoons
  • Pepper – 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic – 4 cloves, minced
  • Onion – 1 large, chopped
  • Celery – 2 stalks, chopped
  • Carrots – 2, chopped
  • Chicken broth – 4 cups
  • Herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage) – 1 tablespoon each

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry.
  3. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
  4. Season with salt and pepper inside and out.
  5. Stuff the cavity with onion, garlic, celery, carrots, and herbs.
  6. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
  7. Cover with foil and roast for 3 hours, basting every 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and roast for an additional hour until golden brown.
  9. Check the internal temperature, it should reach 165°F (75°C).
  10. Let it rest for 20 minutes before carving.

  • Save the drippings for gravy.
