A comforting and hearty casserole made with ground beef, potatoes, and cheese, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- Ground beef: 1 lb (450 g)
- Potatoes: 4 medium-sized, peeled and thinly sliced
- Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Cheese: 2 cups of shredded cheddar or your favorite cheese
- Cream of mushroom soup: 1 can (10.5 oz or 300 g)
- Salt: 1 teaspoon (or to taste)
- Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)
- Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
Instructions
- Prep all ingredients by peeling and slicing the potatoes, chopping the onion, and mincing the garlic.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, add onion and garlic, and sauté until translucent.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the beef mixture, and half of the cream of mushroom soup. Repeat the layers.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.

- Optional add-ins include herbs, vegetables, and spices for extra flavor.
- Allow the casserole to rest before serving for easier slicing.
- Can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
