  • Carrots – 3, chopped
  • Celery – 3 stalks, chopped
  • Chicken broth – 4 cups
  • Salt – to taste
  • Pepper – to taste
  • Green beans – 1 lb
  • Almonds – 1 cup, slivered
  • Sweet potatoes – 4, peeled and cubed
  • Maple syrup – 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Prepare the turkey by rubbing it with softened butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Stuff the turkey cavity with fresh herbs and quartered onions.
  4. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and surround it with chopped carrots and celery.
  5. Pour chicken broth into the pan.
  6. Roast the turkey for about 3 hours, basting occasionally.
  7. Meanwhile, blanch the green beans in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain.
  8. Sauté green beans with slivered almonds in a skillet until golden.
  9. Boil sweet potatoes until tender, then mash with maple syrup.
  10. Carve the turkey and serve with green beans and sweet potatoes.
