- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup bourbon or rum (optional)
Instructions
- Separate the egg yolks and whites into two bowls.
- Whisk the egg yolks with sugar until pale and creamy.
- Add milk, cream, vanilla, and nutmeg to the yolk mixture. Stir well.
- If using, add bourbon or rum to the mixture.
- In the other bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the egg whites into the egg nog mixture.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour before serving.

- Adjust sweetness according to taste.
- Serve with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.
