- 4 lbs whole turkey
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups celery, chopped
- 3 cups bread crumbs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp sage
- 2 cups green beans, trimmed
- 1 cup cranberry sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by washing and patting it dry.
- Mix butter, salt, pepper, and sage in a bowl.
- Rub the butter mixture under the skin of the turkey.
- In a large skillet, sauté onion and celery until soft.
- Add bread crumbs and mix well.
- Stuff the turkey with the bread crumb mixture.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth over it.
- Roast the turkey for about 3 hours or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- In the last 30 minutes, add green beans to the roasting pan.
- Let the turkey rest before carving. Serve with cranberry sauce.
Notes
- Choose a butterball turkey for more flavor.
- Adjust the seasoning to your taste.
- Use leftover turkey for sandwiches.
