Description

A classic Italian dessert made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone cheese.


Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 package ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Whisk egg yolks and sugar in a bowl until thick.
  2. Heat milk in a saucepan, then whisk into egg mixture.
  3. Cook over low heat until it thickens, then cool.
  4. Fold in mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  5. Whip heavy cream and fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  6. Dip ladyfingers in coffee briefly and layer in a dish.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  8. Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers and top with remaining mascarpone.
  9. Chill for at least 4 hours.
  10. Dust with cocoa powder before serving.
