Ingredients
- Turkey – 1 whole (12-14 lbs)
- Butter – 1 cup
- Salt – 2 tablespoons
- Pepper – 1 tablespoon
- Garlic – 6 cloves, minced
- Onions – 2, chopped
- Carrots – 4, diced
- Celery – 4 stalks, diced
- Broth – 4 cups
- Green Beans – 2 lbs
- Cranberries – 12 oz
- Sugar – 1 cup
- Pumpkin Pie – 1 (9-inch)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the turkey by rubbing it with butter, salt, pepper, and garlic.
- Place chopped onions, carrots, and celery in the roasting pan.
- Put turkey on top of the vegetables.
- Pour broth over the turkey.
- Roast the turkey for 3-4 hours, basting occasionally.
- While the turkey cooks, prepare green beans by steaming them for 10 minutes.
- Cook cranberries with sugar in a saucepan until they pop.
- Serve the turkey with green beans and cranberry sauce.
- Finish the meal with pumpkin pie for dessert.
Notes
- Let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
- Make cranberry sauce a day ahead for better flavor.
- Use fresh herbs for seasoning if available.
