A classic dessert featuring layers of creamy vanilla custard and flaky pastry.
Ingredients

- 2 sheets of puff pastry
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of cornstarch
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Roll out the pastry sheets and place them on a baking tray.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- In a saucepan, heat milk and cream until just simmering.
- In a bowl, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks.
- Slowly add hot milk mixture to the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook until thickened.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Layer one sheet of pastry, followed by custard, and then the second pastry sheet.
- Chill for at least 4 hours before serving.
Notes
- Make sure the custard is thick before layering.
- Chill overnight for best results.
- Dust with icing sugar before serving.
