A rich and flavorful classic homemade bolognese sauce.
Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 500 grams ground beef
- 150 grams pancetta, chopped
- 1 can (400 grams) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Cook until softened.
- Add ground beef and pancetta. Cook until browned.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato paste.
- Add red wine and beef broth. Mix well.
- Season with oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.
Notes
- Serve with pasta of your choice.
- This sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated.
- Freezes well for future meals.
