Description

Classic homemade bolognese sauce made with ground meat and tomatoes.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 carrots, finely chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add onion, carrots, and celery. Cook until soft.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Add ground beef and pork. Cook until browned.
  5. Pour in red wine and let it reduce for 5 minutes.
  6. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  7. Simmer on low heat for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
  8. Stir in milk and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
