Description

A classic English dessert made with meringue, whipped cream, and fresh strawberries.


Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 250g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 600ml double cream
  • 300g strawberries, hulled and halved

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 120°C (250°F).
  2. Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  3. Gradually add sugar while continuing to whisk until glossy.
  4. Fold in vanilla extract gently.
  5. Pipe or spoon meringue onto a baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 90 minutes, then turn off oven and let meringue cool inside.
  7. Whip the double cream until soft peaks form.
  8. In a serving dish, layer meringue, cream, and strawberries.
  9. Serve immediately.

  • Can substitute strawberries with other berries.
