Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 2 1/4 cups (280 g)
- Baking soda: 1 teaspoon (5 g)
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 g)
- Unsalted butter: 1 cup (226 g), softened
- Brown sugar: 3/4 cup (150 g), packed
- Granulated sugar: 3/4 cup (150 g)
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon (5 ml)
- Eggs: 2 large
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips: 2 cups (340 g)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare your baking sheets.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time and mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the centers are soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes for chewier cookies.
- Use a mix of brown and granulated sugar for the best flavor and texture.
- Don’t overbake; remove cookies when the edges are golden but the centers look slightly underbaked.
