Ingredients
- Ground beef: 1 lb (450 g)
- Cheddar cheese: 4 slices
- Hamburger buns: 4 soft buns
- Lettuce: 4 leaves
- Tomato: 1 large, sliced
- Onion: 1 small, sliced
- Pickles: 1/2 cup, sliced
- Ketchup: 1/4 cup
- Mustard: 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper: to taste
- Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
Instructions
- Prepare the burger patties by dividing the ground beef into four equal portions and shaping them into patties.
- Season the patties with salt and pepper, and optionally add garlic powder or Worcestershire sauce.
- Cook the patties in a skillet or on a grill over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
- Add a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty in the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
- Toast the hamburger buns cut-side down in a separate skillet or on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble the cheeseburger starting with the bottom half of the bun, adding lettuce, the cooked patty with melted cheese, and your choice of toppings.
- Finish by adding the top half of the bun and enjoy your classic cheeseburger!
