Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt, melted butter, and egg. Mix until dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
  7. Spread melted butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Cut into strips and tie knots.
  9. Place knots on a baking sheet and let rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Mix icing sugar with water to make a glaze and drizzle over knots.
