Description

A traditional Christmas dessert shaped like a log.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and line a 15×10 inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until thick.
  5. Fold in dry ingredients gently.
  6. Pour batter into the pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes.
  9. Invert the cake onto a clean kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar.
  10. Roll the cake with the towel and let it cool completely.
  11. Whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla.
  12. Unroll the cake, spread cream, and re-roll it.
  13. Frost the outside with remaining cream and decorate with chocolate shavings.
