Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup milk
- 3 eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- Red and green food coloring
- 1 cup buttercream frosting
- Holiday sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in milk, vanilla, and almond extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Divide the batter into two bowls. Tint one with red food coloring and the other with green food coloring.
- Pour the red batter into one pan and the green into the other.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool before frosting.
- Frost the top of one cake and place the other on top. Frost the entire cake.
- Decorate with holiday sprinkles.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for brighter colors.
- Let the cakes cool completely before frosting to avoid melting the frosting.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
