Description
Traditional Christmas dessert made with dried fruits and spices.
Ingredients
Scale
- 200g mixed dried fruit
- 100g raisins
- 100g currants
- 50g chopped nuts
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 250ml stout or dark beer
- 200g breadcrumbs
- 100g brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 50g melted butter
- 1 apple, grated
Instructions
- Mix all dried fruits and nuts in a bowl.
- Stir in spices and stout. Let it soak for a few hours.
- In another bowl, mix breadcrumbs, sugar, eggs, butter, and grated apple.
- Combine the soaked fruit mixture with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Pour the mixture into a greased pudding basin.
- Cover with a cloth and secure it.
- Steam for 6 hours, adding water as needed.
- Let it cool, then store until serving.
Notes
- Best made a few weeks in advance.
- Can be reheated in steam or microwave.
- Serve with brandy sauce or cream.
