- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 2 cups stuffing (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey with salt and pepper.
- Stuff the turkey with stuffing if desired.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and add chicken broth.
- Cover the turkey with aluminum foil.
- Roast in the oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Remove the foil in the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to check the turkey’s doneness.
- Letting the turkey rest improves the juiciness.
- Consider serving with cranberry sauce and gravy.
