A delightful homemade Christmas jam made with fresh strawberries and raspberries, enhanced with warm spices, perfect for spreading during the holiday season.
Ingredients
- Fresh strawberries: 2 cups, hulled and chopped
- Fresh raspberries: 2 cups
- Granulated sugar: 4 cups
- Lemon juice: 1/4 cup, freshly squeezed
- Pectin: 1 package (1.75 oz or 49 g)
- Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Ground cloves: 1/2 teaspoon
Instructions
- Prepare the fruits by hulling and chopping the strawberries and rinsing the raspberries.
- Mash the fruits together in a large mixing bowl.
- In a large pot, combine the mashed fruit, lemon juice, and sugar, and bring to a boil.
- Add pectin, cinnamon, and cloves, stirring continuously for 1-2 minutes.
- Ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch of headspace.
- Seal the jars and process in a boiling water bath for 5-10 minutes if desired.
- Allow the jars to cool completely and check the seals before storing.
