Ingredients

  • 2 cups mixed dried fruits
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup currants
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup rum or brandy

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix dried fruits and nuts with a little flour.
  3. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the remaining flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  6. Add the fruit and nut mixture and rum or brandy. Mix well.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
  8. Bake for 1.5 hours or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let it cool before removing from the pan.
