Description

A rich and creamy custard pie flavored with cinnamon and vanilla, perfect for Christmas Eve.


Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.
  4. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks. Gradually add a small amount of the hot mixture to temper the yolks.
  5. Stir the yolk mixture back into the saucepan and cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and butter.
  7. Pour the custard into the pie crust.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until set.
  9. Let cool before serving.

Notes

  • Chill the pie for a few hours for better texture.
  • Top with whipped cream before serving.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
